COVID-19 Statement – Rentals
At Countryside Camp and Conference Centre the summer home of “Camp Shalom”, we are closely watching as the global situation with the Coronavirus COVID-19 continues to evolve.
Our highest priority is the health and well-being of our staff and guests while enjoying their retreat or summer camp experience here on our facilities.
We are receiving information and best practices regularly from the Region of Waterloo Public Health, Public Health Ontario, and Health Canada to assist us in two ways: prevention both personal and professional.
The key symptoms linked to COVID-19 are mild fever, dry cough, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. These are very similar to the common cold virus we see each year.
Campers and Guests are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds often during their stay at Countryside, especially prior to eating or after using the washroom, coughing, or sneezing.
Campers and Guests should use your sleeve to cough or sneeze.
Campers and Guests should avoid touching their face, especially around your eyes, nose and mouth as it transmits any germs or virus, from your hands to your face.
Campers and Guests are encouraged to use hand sanitizer, but not as a replacement for hand washing.
We require each guest group, caregiver and parent to pre-screen their group members, adult summer guests, and summer campers before attending a retreat or summer camp program at Countryside Camp/ “Camp Shalom.” CCCCA Wellness Confirmation Forms.
We require all group members, adult summer guests, and summer campers who are symptomatic (sick or have traveled to areas with high incidence of COVID-19) to stay home.
We want you to know that our standard cleaning process for our kitchens, meeting rooms, bedroom, and washrooms includes sanitizing all surfaces including door handles and common surfaces. We maintain the highest heath and food service standards in the operation of all three of our board of health inspected kitchens.
Our Cancelation Policy for Rental Ministry groups and Summer Campers and Guests will remain the same at this time.
Our staff are committed to following the same practices and procedures we are asking of our guests

We will be updating our plans, policies, and new protective and reactive procedures as they become available.
As our good friends in Christian camping have said, “We can all do our part to stop, contain, and avoid the spread of this virus and every person has the capacity to contribute by protecting ourselves and our community.”
