Summer Camp

For over 50 years Camp Shalom has been a meeting place for friends and family to have fun and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Camp Shalom strives to provide day camps and overnight camps for kids and special support guests with fun and educational programming in a safe, accepting and, above all, Christ-centered environment.

Day Camp

Our Day Camps are jam-packed full of fun activities likely to tire out even our most energetic campers.  Swim in the pool, play in the spray pad, go canoeing, jump on the trampoline, lounge in our hammocks and try archery, bottle rockets, sports, swimming, kayaking, or music. Healthy and kid-friendly lunches and snacks are included. Register early because these programs fill up fast!

Special Needs

For over 30 year Camp Shalom has been a leader in summer camps for adults who have special needs. Parents and caregivers rely on our camp every year to offer respite along with fun and meaningful vacations for their loved ones. Many of our guests have attended for over a decade and look forward to it every year. See you at Camp this summer!

Why Camp Shalom?

Parents and guardians were asked in our summer camp evaluation why they chose Camp Shalom over other summer camps. Here are some of their responses.

  • It’s a wonderful camp that the kids loved, they learned a lot and had a great time.

  • My experience with the camp was staff interaction, having my questions answered and the way the kids were registered and de-registered. I was happy to see security measures put in place and the de-registration process overall. I have absolutely no complaints. Everyone was so great.

  • The staff members are caring there. He loves it and talks about it all year to anyone who will listen. I feel secure that he is not just one of a crowd but an individual whose needs are being considered and met. Your staff is amazing. He loves the Christian atmosphere, esp. "Praise and Worship" time. Your staff practice what they preach - rare in this day and age.

  • They truly were caring, loving counsellors with a strong moral faith life which was exemplary to all! What an experience!

  • Camp Shalom is close to where we live, it charges a fair price, the staff are very friendly and they care for my son. He loves the worship praise time a lot! He even talked about the pastor speaking around the camp fire. Even though he may not say much his spirit is ministered to and that has great value to me.

  • It was close to home, and our children had such a wonderful, life changing experience last year.

  • Its fairly close to home and as all my children have been going there for years, its the only place they continuously ask to go back to, even with other alternatives offered. They love the staff and friends made over the years and really feel connected to God while their away at camp. It gives them a sense of belonging.

  • It reaffirms the Christian values we are trying to teach at home. We know that he is safe and learning more about God on a daily basis. The cousellors and programs are excellent. They are modified to make sure each camper gives their best at all times.

  • The staff members are always wonderful there!! He comes home talking about going back next year already. My Son is always so positive about his experience there and this has not been the case in other camps.

  • The camp is an awesome camp! Both my children and I really enjoy what the camp provides and offers for a week! Keep up the wonderful work! May God bless all of you!

  • The fact that you accepted my sister who had become more disabled during the year was a blessing. Her days at camp are memorable for her. She told me that she "just loves it there"! She knew the staff and volunteers and they greeted her heartily too. Camp Shalom has been a bright spot in her life for many years. It has been a showcase of God's love.

  • DISC encourages you to focus on God and how you can be a disciple for him. I found myself looking at the words of God in a new light. I am a changed person. My heart is on fire for God. Looking back on my summer, it has been a highlight in my life. With strong conviction, I recommend this program to anyone wanting to build a stronger relationship with God and a faith based community.

  • During DISC, we headed to Toronto for a mission trip working with the homeless and street kids of the city. God showed me His love for His children, no matter what their story entailed. God pulled me out of my comfort zone many times, challenging me to talk to people that my society turns a blind eye to. God revealed to me His heart for the city and its brokenness.

  • DISC for me opened up my eyes to things I never experienced before, as in working with the homeless, volunteering at various mens’ shelters, and assisting the guests with special needs. It was a wake up call for my spiritual life and it put me back on track with God.

  • Worship and Bible studies also brought me closer to God. Diving into His word and having Him reveal his awesome nature, or just sitting in the Presence of God, or lifting my hands in worship, all allowed me to grow closer in a relationship with Him. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (ESV) As I learned to come closer to God in the Discipleship program, God came closer to me, and showed me his love and desire for me. The DISC program is an AMAZING program – I would recommend it to anyone!

  • God showed me that I can work for Him in all places. I learned to care for others before myself more this week. If I had a choice, I would do it again.

  • So many heart-warming moments with the guests. Especially Daniel & Brian. Their joy filled my heart & it was a joy to be around them. God encouraged me so much by their lives.

  • So, this week I had a super independent cabin for special needs week. Three of my campers all came from the same home and they were hilarious. They were always goofing off and playing jokes on each other. While watching them I can appreciate their joy and how God has blessed them.

  • I had a really great week. I learned about humility and love from the guests. I loved seeing Jay dance and all the good bible tales that Frank could tell me. All in all this was a really great week and I don't think I've laughed this much in one week in a long time.

  • Special needs weeks are my favourite weeks at camp. Being able to get to know the guests and learn their personalities is a privilege.

  • This week was a building stone upon Week 1 and working with Special Needs for the first time. I learned so much more about what it takes to support them and not only help them, but that they are no different. The amount you can learn and learn about yourself is the joy of working for them. The amount of humour and need to rely on God was a huge part of my week. I felt the guests showed me how God works in mysterious ways through me and the fellow staff. Another memorable week that will forever be cherished.
