DISC Leadership Training

The DISC summer camp program at Camp Shalom has been a life changing experience for hundreds of teenagers.

The DISC program has been changing lives and raising up future leaders for many years. This program has a large focus on Discipleship—on pointing and empowering teenagers towards following Jesus. Some highlights of this program include service and learning trip opportunities, three weeks of co-counselling for our camp programs, and occasional volunteering in the community through local service opportunities. You will be sure to further your faith with in-depth Bible studies, great discussions, and guest speakers. 

The DISC program looks great on any resume especially if you are interested in being on staff at Camp Shalom one day. You will also receive a larger salary as a staff member at camp if you are a graduate of the DISC program. This program will also completely cover your required 40 hours of volunteer service to graduate high school.

Cost:  $900 + HST (Sibling Discounts)
Dates July 7-26 + staff or volunteer opportunities

After the program ends on July 26th each camper will have the opportunity to join our staff as a Jr. staff member or volunteer at Camp.

  • DISC encourages you to focus on God and how you can be a disciple for him. I found myself looking at the words of God in a new light. I am a changed person. My heart is on fire for God. Looking back on my summer, it has been a highlight in my life. With strong conviction, I recommend this program to anyone wanting to build a stronger relationship with God and a faith based community.

  • During DISC, we headed to Toronto for a mission trip working with the homeless and street kids of the city. God showed me His love for His children, no matter what their story entailed. God pulled me out of my comfort zone many times, challenging me to talk to people that my society turns a blind eye to. God revealed to me His heart for the city and its brokenness.

  • DISC for me opened up my eyes to things I never experienced before, as in working with the homeless, volunteering at various mens’ shelters, and assisting the guests with special needs. It was a wake up call for my spiritual life and it put me back on track with God.

  • Worship and Bible studies also brought me closer to God. Diving into His word and having Him reveal his awesome nature, or just sitting in the Presence of God, or lifting my hands in worship, all allowed me to grow closer in a relationship with Him. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (ESV) As I learned to come closer to God in the Discipleship program, God came closer to me, and showed me his love and desire for me. The DISC program is an AMAZING program – I would recommend it to anyone!
