Melissa Gerryts – Program Coordinator
Hey everyone! My name is Mel, and I’m so happy to be the Adventure Camp and Special Needs Coordinator this year. I cant wait to work alongside an incredible group of people and see God move in campers lives and our own. It’s a joy to be given this opportunity. Currently I am a waitress in a small town and I love to journal, hike, play volleyball, be with friends, drink coffee and enjoy the outdoors. I can’t wait for another amazing summer at the best place ever!
Joy-Hannah Koudijs – Program Coordinator
Hollaa!!! My names Joy-Hannah and I am so excited for another fantastic summer at camp. For the past two summers, I have been a counselor here at Camp Shalom and I am delighted to be the Munchies and Special Needs Coordinator this year! I can’t wait to work alongside another amazing group of staff and see how God is going change lives! A little about me, I am heading into my third year at McMaster University where one of my favourite things to do is sing in the Mac Gospel Choir. When I’m not busy at school, you can probably find me at camp for some reason or another. I love painting, laughing, being outside, going on adventures and discovering what how great the God we serve is!
Joanne Rae – Spec Trek/Sports/Arts Coordinator
Hello friends! I’m Joanne and this will be my second time on staff at Camp, but it was always my favourite week attending in the summer as a child growing up. I am currently a student at Queen’s University studying education with a major in biology. Some of my favourite pastimes are playing soccer and basketball, photography and reading. I am super excited to see how God will move in the lives of those at camp this summer!
Cody Miedema – Discipleship Coordinator
Hey everyone, I’m crazy excited to be working at camp for my third year! I can’t wait to see how God is going to work through the lives of all the campers and the staff too. Some of my hobbies are catching more fish than Ryan Flokstra, biking, kayaking, and any sport that involves a ball (that includes golf). Currently I’m a garbage man at Norfolk Disposal and I am eager to see what God has planned for me in the fall.
Katrina Vellenga – Discipleship Coordinator
Amy Fung – Healthcare Coordinator
Amy Fung was born in Toronto, Canada. She was born and raised in the Toronto and later moved to Markham. Being passionate about health and science, she has done a Bachelor of Science of degree at University of Toronto and later on completed her BScN at York University. When she was 13 she became saved and knew the Lord Jesus through exploring a Gideons New Testament bible in her room. When she was 18 she found a church and gave her life to following God. She has done a year of bible school abroad in England and later on met her husband Joshua when she went back for a visit and regularly resides in England.
Lindsay Letkeman – Healthcare Coordinator
Hey everyone! I’m Lindsay and this will be my fourth summer on staff at Camp Shalom. For the last 3 years I have worked as a lifeguard at camp and I am so excited to be part of the healthcare team this year! I have done the PSW program at Conestoga college, and am also currently taking some academic Upgrading courses through Conestoga college as well. I have worked and am still working at the pool in my hometown as a lifeguard and swim instructor/supervisor for the last 4 years. Right now my spare time consists mostly of spending time with friends, cuddling my dog and planning a wedding! I’m super excited to work with another amazing group of staff, and to see what God has in store for this summer.
Kaitlyn Cole – Assistant Cook
Hello all! The name’s Kaitlyn (or Katie if you’re feelin’ friendly) and this will be my second year on staff at Camp Shalom. I’m a polaroid-snapping, pun-cracking, twenty-something currently enrolled in Niagara College’s Carpentry program. Some of my more notable hobbies including drawing, reading, and kite-flying. I’m so excited to see what an awesome summer God has planned for us this year and can’t wait to meet you all!
Jasmijn de Bruin – Assistant Cook
Hi I’m Jasmijn de Bruin and I am finishing my second year of high school. My hobbies and interests are I love reading, I enjoy playing soccer and spending time outside like biking and hiking. I like to hang out with my family and friends. Love to laugh. I am very excited for my first year working at the camp and can’t wait to meet new people and to experience new things. Can’t wait!

Hey friends, my name is Malinda and I’m incredibly excited for my second year working at Camp Shalom! I can’t wait to serve God at my favourite place to spend the summer, to meet many wonderful people, and to get creative and fun with the media / tuck position. I’m graduating from Eastwood Collegiate Institute in June and I love being outside, watching YouTube videos, and playing the drums! See ya in the summer!
Matt Letkeman – Head Lifeguard
Hi, my name is Matt! This is my first summer working at Camp Shalom. I’m finishing up my last year at Elmira high school, and I work as a lifeguard at the Elmira pool. I’m involved in music and robotics groups at school. In my spare time I like to play my guitar, longboard and go hammocking with my friends. I’m super excited to work at camp this summer and meet everyone there! Cheers!

Hi everyone! My name is Leah and this will be my first year on staff at Camp Shalom but I’ve been attending as a camper for the past 10 summers! I’m currently a lifeguard/swim instructor at the Wayne Gretzky Centre in Brantford and I’m super excited to be spending the summer at camp My favorite things to do include playing water-polo, baking, or just reading a good book. I can’t wait to see everyone at the pool this summer!
Nicole Elgersma – Lifeguard
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to be on staff at Camp Shalom this year! I have been a lifeguard/swim instructor for 3 years working at the Caledonia Pool, and this will be my first summer on staff at camp. I have just completed my nursing diploma at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough, and I look forward to what God has planned for me in the fall. My favourite things to do are swimming, playing guitar and piano, watching movies, baking, and spending time with my friends and family. I can’t wait to meet everyone and have a fantastic summer at camp!

Hi my name is Chelsie. This is my first summer attending camp Shalom. I have been a camper at number of Christian camp and I am excited to be working with such an amazing team. I just finished my first year at Ridgetown collage working on my veterinary office administration program. Hey yall, this year will be my 3rd summer at camp, i have loved every moment that i have spent counseling and as i told adrian my first year “you ain’t seen the last of me yet”. this year i have the honour of being the worship counselor, and i look forward to worshiping our saviour with all of you! i currently work for a moving company, but i hope to attend redeemer university in the fall for religion and theology. some of my hobbies include playing my guitar, biking, watching the grass grow, and fishing (Cody Meidema converted me). see yall this summer!

Hello my name is Caleb. This will be my second year working at camp. I am in my last year of high school and will be attending Lambton College in Sarnia this coming fall for the developmental service worker program. I have a passion for working with special needs people, some of the things I love are sports like tennis, Frisbee, and football I also love hiking and riding my bike and watching movies. Hi! I’m Karryne. I am counsellor for this fine establishment for the first time this year. However, I have experience working with young people from being a Counsellor for my churches GEMS group. I live in Guelph with my family and I am heading into Grade 12 in the fall. I hope to be headed into the trades after high school. But right now I eagerly look forward to meeting your beautiful kids and adults. I enjoy playing music on my uke and guitar, going for hikes, biking, colouring, building furniture, and reading. I just finished my first year at Wilfrid Laurier University but have decided to take next year off to work and figure out what is best for me and my future. Hey, y’all! (Get used to the ‘y’all thing’ XD) My name is Sam! I’m so excited to be returning as a counsellor again this year! I’m graduating grade 12 at my school back home in Chatham and will be heading to Wilfrid Laurier University next year for a Bachelor of Music as a vocal student! When I’m not at school or camp, I can usually be found reading a book, furiously playing my beloved piano, planning worship at my school or church, or at rehearsal for whatever show I’m currently working on. Adrian Stelpstra – Program Director
Hi Everyone, this will be my 14th summer at camp. I have been the program director for 10 years. I live in Paris with my wife and 6 kids. Some of our kids are also our foster and adopted kids. When not at camp I like to play disc golf, regular golf, run, mountain bike and build stuff. Camp is such an amazing place that I just can’t leave and I am confident that many lives will be changed in the name of Jesus again this summer.
