Special Support Camp
Tailored to your ability level
With over 35 years of experience, Camp Shalom is dedicated to providing unforgettable vacations for campers of all ages, creating a perfect blend of fun, adventure, and faith. Our long history of excellence means you can trust that your time at Camp Shalom will be filled with incredible experiences and cherished memories. Many of our campers have been attending for over a decade, and it’s not uncommon for them to sign up for multiple weeks each summer, returning year after year to be part of the Camp Shalom family.
We believe that every one of our guests deserves a vacation filled with joy, new experiences, and opportunities to grow. Whether it’s swimming in the pool, zipping down the waterslide, or cooling off at the spray pad, there’s no shortage of water-based fun. Evenings come alive with campfire songs, laughter, and s’mores under the stars, while worship times provide moments of reflection and connection with their faith. Throughout their stay, campers are nourished with delicious, hearty meals and cared for by our team of dedicated and compassionate counselors, who are there to support and guide them every step of the way.
At Camp Shalom, our mission goes beyond just providing fun activities. We are deeply committed to helping our campers grow spiritually and develop meaningful relationships, both with their peers and with Jesus Christ. Each day is filled with opportunities to learn about their Savior, whether through Bible studies, worship sessions, or simply the kindness and role modeling of our staff. Campers will not only leave with new friends but also with a deeper understanding of their faith and a stronger connection to their community.
By creating an atmosphere of love, support, and excitement, Camp Shalom continues to be a place where families and campers return year after year, eager to experience all that camp has to offer. With fun activities, great food, caring staff, and the chance to grow in their relationship with Jesus, it’s no wonder Camp Shalom has become such a beloved destination for campers of all ages. We can’t wait to welcome you for what promises to be an amazing, faith-filled vacation!

Camp Shalom offers four different special needs programs.
Our largest program is called Special Support. During the three weeks that we run this program, everyone at Camp is an adult who has some form of special needs (there is a kid’s day camp that will be on-site as well). This program gives you a taste of everything at camp from music, to sports, to dance, to crafts, to a talent show, to a petting zoo, to canoeing, and maybe even a visit from the firetruck. We recommend that first-time campers attend this program.
Our three Spec program are designed for campers who are looking for a faster and more challenging program than our Special Support is able to offer.
Spec Arts runs alongside our larger Special Support program. Campers will have the opportunity to try painting, dance, music, crafts, and other activities.
Spec Sports and Spec Trek are our most challenging programs. Campers should be mobile and willing to try challenging things. Spec Sports and Spec Trek run alongside our kid’s camp program so there will be over 100 loud and energetic kids at camp. Campers in Spec Sports and Spec Trek will have the opportunity to try more difficult activities such as archery, slingshots, kayaking, and more.
If you are still unsure which program is right for you, don’t hesitate to call the office so we can discuss it some more.
Individuals with low needs may attend Special Support Camp, Spec Trek, Spec Sports or Spec Arts. Unfortunately, Camp Shalom is not able to support individuals with high needs. Below is a chart that we use to determine if our programming is suitable for your particular needs. If we are unable to provide the support you require and you would still like to come to camp, you are invited to bring your own support worker to camp for the week in order to assist you. The Cost is $50 to bring a support worker. Support workers must be at least 16 years old. If you have any further questions please contact Adrian.

Spec Trek and Spec Sports is intended to be a more challenging program than Special Support. Campers should be very mobile and independent to participate in Spec Trek and Spec Sports.
