Final Dependence on God makes Heroes of ordinary people like you and me.

Postal strike or not, join with us on mission as a financial steward.

Dependence on God makes heroes of ordinary people like you and me! Why? It is because He gets all the glory and honour, and we get the blessing! Our vision at Countryside Camp/Camp Shalom is to be a community centred on Jesus Christ, transforming lives, and building His kingdom.

Recently, while my wife Sharon and I were in South Carolina, we met some heroes. There were three families staying where we were who had escaped the devastation and destruction of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Their houses were still standing, but their communities were gone. Some of their friends and families had lost everything—even loved ones. Speaking with them made our hearts hurt. We prayed, and then we felt led to go to the store, buy diapers and wipes, and drop them off at a church sending weekly relief supplies to families in North Carolina affected by the hurricane. You see, we responded because we made a connection with real people travelling back and forth to recover and rebuild their lives. These folks were the real heroes in the trenches doing the messiness and restoring hope in the lives of their friends and neighbours.

At Camp Shalom, I have had the privilege of serving alongside just such heroes, and they are making a huge impact in the lives of our guests and campers as they serve in humility, offering unconditional love and respect, eager to share the message of Jesus Christ in fun and meaningful ways.

Dependence upon God moves us from the stands to the ice; He empowers us to act and be used to make a difference. Just this summer, we shared the gospel at least 21,344 times with 1035 guests and campers—225 of those campers were sponsored and 23% were funded by our Stand in the Gap heroes. My prayer for you this Christmas season is that you will become so dependent on God that you will move from the stands to the ice and become a Stand in the Gap hero, helping us share the gospel with even more under-resourced families across southern Ontario.

Have a Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
